Collaboration between CalState TEACH and MIST
The Master of Science in Instructional Science and Technology program, offered by the School of Information Technology and Communication Design at California State University Monterey Bay, prepares learners to remain professionally up-to-date and in demand in the fast-changing landscape of modern education and training fields. The unique distributed learning experience - integrating intensive face-to-face seminars with state-of-the-art online learning - will not only enable our graduates to advance their current careers, but it will position them to assume leadership positions in education and training into the future.
CalStateTEACH is the California State University's innovative, alternative teacher preparation program. It is non-traditional in that the curriculum is delivered using a self-study format, whereby program participants use online, print and CD-ROM materials. Teacher candidates share ideas through web-based “class discussions,” and get professional feedback through on-site coaching. CalStateTEACH participants enjoy personal guidance from mentor teachers at their school site as well as CSU faculty. They communicate and share ideas with other participants via a special program web site.
CalStateTEACH and School of ITCD would like to encourage students who have earned a teaching credential through CalStateTEACH, to apply to the IDMA/IST program. Moreover, CalStateTEACH agrees to support and assist IDMA/IST in contacting CalStateTEACH graduates. Following policies and guidelines of California State University, CSUMB and IDMA/IST program, eight credits earned in CalStateTEACH can be transferred into IDMA/IST. Since IDMA/IST is a lockstep program, CalStateTEACH graduates should participate in the regular Term 1, 2, 3, each is 8 credits study load and then register a special 1 credit Capstone during the last Term. Instead of the typical 40-credit requirement, the following is a 33-credit learning schedule for CalStateTEACH graduates to finish IDMA/IST degree:
