Online Community Support – Alumni Relations Office

Hours per week: 15-20, possibly more during school breaks.

Pay: $11.44 - 13.88/hr (GS-04)

Position Description:

The Alumni Relations Office provides an online community for alumni and friends of the Naval Postgraduate School. This position reports to the Alumni Director.

Responsibilities:

PROJECT: Web Marketing & Communications

Goals & Objectives:

  1. Routine review of web site and online community offerings and determine need for new or edited copy & graphics.

· Assist with marketing & communications plan for new Blog functions

· Assist in enhancing and benchmarking web site marketing & communications

  1. Track web and online community traffic

· Coordinate and print weekly reports and offer recommendations to improve

  1. Review email communications including E-News and offer suggestions for improvements

PROJECT: Email Marketing Reports

Goals & Objectives:

  1. To provide the Alumni Relations Office with recommendations on email communications based on reports.

· Review click rates for all versions of the E-News and compile recommendations

· Help identify more effective communications strategies in the delivery of messages (when/time, how often, content) based on email marketing

  1. Track and develop regional and class affinity strategies

· Review all email communications by region & class affinity and identify highest click rates and actions taken by the email. (Create class and regional profiles)

PROJECT: Event Reporting & Relationship Management

Goals & Objectives:

  1. Identify and track event statistics to help shape future communications

· Actual Attendees, Made an RSVP, Walk-In, Region, Year, Alumni, etc.

  1. Keep online community updated after events to keep Alumni engaged

· Update class notes, event photos and manage post event communications

· Determine “best practices” to increase online community registration

· Help develop marketing strategies for events

PROJECT: General Event Management

Goals & Objectives:

  1. Assist in general event planning

· Creating event summaries to distribute to various constituents

· Conduct benchmarking of alumni programs by phone and email

· Assist in recruitment and management of organizations for the Non Profit Network

· Assist in coordination of data & marketing of Centennial events

Desired qualifications:

· Familiarity with online communities, blogs, etc.

· Familiarity with web page development

Other Requirements:

· Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background investigation.

· This position requires, at the minimum, half-time enrollment at a college or university. Proof of enrollment needs to be presented on a quarterly basis to maintain employment eligibility.
