Place of birth: Whitefish, MT Reside: Monterey, California High School: Lowell, San Francisco, 1961 BS University of San Francisco, 1979 MA University of Phoenix, 1995 (MAOM, Online) Title: Partner Organization: The Pease Partnership To flesh it out a bit: You may have noticed a gap between the HS graduation and BS. Although I tried (City College of SF, MPC while in the Army at Ft. Ord, and Menlo College) I just couldn't get the hang of it. As a working adult, however, it started to fall into place and I'm now really into life-long learning. Teaching is part of it. I started teaching in 1990 (at CSUMB in 2003) and, in addition to management, teach several courses for ITCD here at CSUMB. I also teach a variety of MBA management and marketing courses for the online campus of the University of Phoenix. For more than 20 years I was the head of the tourism marketing organization for this region. In June, 2003 I retired as President & CEO of the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau. During my career I was also CEO of destination marketing organizations in Stockton, Santa Cruz, San Jose and Arlington, Texas (home of the Texas Rangers MLB team, Six Flags Over Texas and, soon, the Dallas Cowboys). Since retiring, my wife, adult daughter and I have formed a consulting practice. We provide management, marketing and one-on-one coaching to our clients. Current projects include management of a small business improvement district; development of a hotel in a historically sensitive community; staff support to a local group that would like to see the investor owned water company taken over by a rate payer owned entity; and leading an editorial team that is reviewing/revising all of the content on [ http://www.theworkingmanager.com ]www.theworkingmanager.com. The site is owned by a UK firm and operates out of London. The other two members of the editorial team are in Valparaiso, Chili and Calcutta, India. In addition to email and a collaboration web site, we have weekly VoIP conference calls. Talk about diversity and global collaboration! We like to travel (returned from a photo safari to Tanzania in January), occasionally hike the trails of Big Sur and the Lake Tahoe area (we have a cabin near Squaw Valley) and bicycle almost anywhere safe and reasonably flat.
