The Apple App Store has been garnering a lot of attention as the applications being developed and built for the iPhone are, in a way, more popular now than the actual physical device. Apple executives have said that there are now more than 25,000 apps for the iPhone, and users have downloaded more than 800 million applications from the App Store. The market for smartphone applications, whether they are built for the iPhone or another device, has become a driving force in the industry. (eweek.com)

ITCD is planning on offering a course this Spring semester on iPhone App Development. The goal of this course is to teach you how to write object-oriented applications forthe iPhone and iPod touch, using the Cocoa Touch framework on Mac OS X. The language we will be using is Objective-C. We will be using Mac OS X 10.5 (aka Leopard). You will need to have taken at least CST231 or have a solid programming background.  Familiarity with object oriented designs and principles are helpful, but you must understand the use of pointers in C.
